- Monitor Experiences: Energy Efficiency / Sustainability
The Corona years 2020 and 2021 were extremely successful for the manufacturers of monitors. While a good two million screens were sold to German customers in the previous years, this number has almost doubled in these two years.
the Home office trends and gaming as a substitute for outdoor activities, the tills of the manufacturers rang loudly. However, if you are one of those people who only want to buy a new screen in the near future, you have come to the right place on these pages. For our customer survey we have in August 1379 people asked about their experiences with their monitor and, above all, about its manufacturer.
As in the previous surveys, all the results of the study were summarized and evaluated neutrally. For this we use the WPS score (WEKA Promer Score), a special point system with which the number of points achieved is converted into grades 1 to 5 for better understanding.
This time, the results of the three individual categories flow into the overall result product quality, Brand / Manufacturer such as Energy efficiency/ sustainability with the last category being more important than ever in view of rising electricity prices.
If you use the otherwise always available categories Customer Service and Repair missing, we can reassure you: There was not enough feedback here for a meaningful evaluation. This means that monitor buyers hardly have any trouble with their devices and that this reliability makes contact with customer service superfluous.
Details of the survey
Those selected for the survey 1379 people use their devices in quite different ways. While a clear majority prefer the monitor for home office and all related clerical work follows gaming (28 percent) as well Entertainment and TV replacement (26 percent) just behind.
Only one in ten uses the monitor for e-learning or e-schooling. Given the high sales figures in 2020 and 2021, it is hardly surprising that 40 percent of those surveyed bought their display in those two years.
Eight percent bought their monitor in the current year, only 22 percent use a screen that is more than four years old. As far as the purchase price is concerned, 32 percent paid between 201 and 400 euros for their monitor. This is by far the largest group.
They are followed by 22 percent who have spent less than 200 euros and 15 percent with investments between 401 and 600 euros. Only two percent of the people surveyed paid more than 1,000 euros for their monitor.
And the winner is: Lenovo
The evaluation of our survey brought to light the narrowest possible result: the overall victory went with the overall grade 1.8 Lenovo a, closely followed by Eizo, LG and Samsungeach one 1.9 could achieve. Ultimately, Lenovo was particularly convincing with an extremely high recommendation rate as well as with energy efficiency and sustainability.
What’s more, Lenovo buyers remain loyal to their brand: no competitor offers a 1.1 when planning to select the same brand for a future purchase. Lenovo didn’t afford any major weaknesses anyway, so the narrow overall victory is deserved in the end. The bottom line is that the level of monitor manufacturers is consistently high. Luckily, there were hardly any bad outliers downwards.
