Lack of manpower in the nuclear industry: several welders on the site of the Iter experimental reactor had falsified their qualifications, all their work will have to be reviewed
The nuclear safety authority (ASN) has been alerted to the presence of several falsely qualified welders on the site of the international experimental reactor Iter, in Cadarache, in the south of France, we learned on Tuesday from the gendarme of the nuclear in France. According to a letter dated May 4 and published on its website, ASN was informed as soon as “during March of the detection of falsification of qualifications of welders” within this research site.
It was the management of Iter itself who brought to ASN’s attention “the discovery of falsifications in the qualification certificates concerning welders working on the construction site“, indicated the ASN, confirming information from the chained duck to be released on Wednesday. In its letter of May 4, ASN asks Iter Organization to “specify the extent of the falsifications brought to light and their possible impact on activities relating to equipment important for safety“.
