Criticized for taking a domestic flight, eco-immigrationist researcher François Gemenne leaves Twitter
The presidential election gave visibility to the researcher François Gemenne, support of candidate Jadot. On Twitter, where he had become accustomed to giving his opinion quite clearly and responding to (almost) all questions, he drew strong criticism from rebellious activists. Author of the Giec, working on environmental migrations and adaptation issues, this Belgian defines himself as “liberal”, in the philosophical sense of the term, and is wary of a radicalism that he considers fanciful. After having made a domestic flight, from Nice to Paris, he was reproached for entering into contradictions with the objectives of sobriety which he advocates elsewhere. He closed his Twitter account soon after. At a long-planned meeting, we asked him to come back to the reasons for this closure. Warns him against the quest for “purity and radicalism” of part of climate activism.
